1984 Sarajevo Vučko Mascot Pin Set

For the XIV Olympic Winter Games in Sarajevo, Yugoslavia (February 8 to 19, 1984), a 16-pin Limited Edition Collector Set was made. It shows the Games mascot, Vučko the little wolf, competing in the winter sports. The 1985 Pin Collector's Guide pictures the full set on page 92 (Image W), framed behind glass in a wood and gold frame. The pins circle a black center card that reads "Limited Edition Collector Set #" above the Olympic rings, the Sarajevo snowflake emblem, and "Sarajevo '84, XIV Olympic Winter Games, © 1982 OOCS Sarajevo '84."

What's in the set

Most of the pins are small gold-toned pins with enamel. Each one shows Vučko on a white snowy base in a different winter event, such as skiing, ski jumping, bobsled, skating and hockey. The set also includes a Sarajevo emblem pin with the Olympic rings and a flag pin. Two of the pins are tall, narrow, upright designs.

Why collectors want it

Vučko is one of the best-loved Winter Games mascots, and he's still a symbol of Sarajevo. A complete set is hard to find, because most sets were broken up and their pins traded one at a time. We're listing the pins from this set one by one. Every pin is tagged "Sarajevo Mascot Set" and gathered here, so you can build the full 16.
