About the S1 framed set

From the 1985 Pin Collector's Guide (pg 111): Ooh La La! Inc. was the first company selected as the licensee for cloisonné lapel pins by both the Summer and Winter 1984 Organizing Committees, offering almost 100 different sport pins for retail sale, and it created the concept of packaging complete collections of pins in Serialized Limited Edition Framed Sets. S1, the Los Angeles Series One Collector Set, was a Limited Edition of 30,000 and was sold out by the manufacturer in March 1984. Six of the least popular pins were discontinued for individual sale after one year of distribution, with the remaining stock reserved for the LAOOC and U.S. Federations for the respective sports: Pole Vault, Discus, Hammer, Javelin, Handball and Field Hockey. While these pins were difficult to acquire individually in 1983 and 1984, thousands were produced and are in circulation.
