1984 Los Angeles Olympic Pin - Sam the Eagle Gymnastics Balance Beam

Sam the Eagle, the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic mascot, swings a leg high over the beam in this Gymnastics pin, from the Los Angeles Series One Collector Set by Ooh La La! Inc., the first company licensed for cloisonné lapel pins by both the 1984 Summer and Winter Organizing Committees.

From the 1985 Pin Collector's Guide (set S1, page 91; write-up page 111): "Los Angeles Series One Collector Set - Limited Edition of 30,000. Set was sold out by the manufacturer in March, 1984." Ooh La La! offered almost 100 different sport pins for retail sale and created the concept of packaging complete collections in Serialized Limited Edition Framed Sets.
