1984 Los Angeles Olympic LAOOC Staff Pin ~ Transportation Department Bus

A 1984 Los Angeles Olympic staff pin from the Transportation Department of the Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee (LAOOC). A white bus pictogram sits on a red square inside a green border, with "TRANSPORTATION" across the top and "LA 84" along the bottom, in enamel with gold tone metal.

The story behind this pin: The LAOOC had its own departments to run the 1984 Games, and several of them had pins made for their staff. The 1985 Pin Collector's Guide lists this one in its LAOOC section as the Transportation Department "Bus" pin, with about 10,000 made. It sits alongside other department pins in the guide, such as Technology Staff, Information, Speakers Bureau and Accreditation.
